Should I Get a Club Account- Especially During The Holidays?

It’s officially the holiday season – a season that is full of joy and celebration. However, it’s easy to find yourself overspending again and again, with presents, parties, and decorations all part of this time of year. Not only can overspending negatively affect your budget, but it can affect your festive mood as well. If you’re looking for ways to budget for holiday shopping, you might want to look into opening a Holiday Club Account at your local credit union.

What is a Club Account?

Club accounts are separate savings accounts designed to help you organize and save your finances with ease. Much like other savings accounts, club account holders earn interest on their account balances. With a club account, many members decide to set up a set amount for an automatic deposit periodically. A “set it and forget it” way of doing things!

Another great way to use club accounts is for organizing your savings. Are you saving for something specific, a wedding, vacation, home improvement, etc.? Maybe, you’re saving for all three! In that case, you can get three club accounts and name them, “Wedding”, “Vacation”, “Home Improvements”. This is a great way to stay on top of things and reach your savings goals!

What Is a Holiday Club Account?

A Holiday Club Account is a club with a purpose, where money is deposited throughout the year to be withdrawn at the beginning of the holiday season. Much like other savings accounts, club account holders earn interest on their account balances. It’s essentially an incentive to build up a nest egg to lessen the strain on your budget this time of year – especially if you often find yourself borrowing from your savings.

Why Should You Open a Holiday Club Account?

Holiday spending can cause a lot of stress, which is why Holiday Club Accounts exist. You can auto-deposit into the account, meaning you can set aside money without having to think about it. You can also have the Holiday Club Account set to deposit your funds into your savings or checking on October 1st so your holiday shopping can begin, stress-free! Thanks to the automatic deposits you set up for yourself, you’ll have built up funds for the Holidays with minimal effort. You do have the option of monitoring the account through online banking, mobile banking, or the Sabattus Regional Credit Union app.

Happy saving, Happy Holidays!
